Prof. Muge Gundogdu biography:
Born in 1977 in Istanbul, Prof. Muge Gundogdu has aspired to be a doctor for as long as she can remember. In 1994, she achieved a high national ranking and was admitted to the English program at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine. After graduating in 2001, she continued her medical journey by joining the Department of Pediatrics at Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, again securing a top national ranking. Following her mandatory pediatrics service, she pursued three years of specialized training in pediatric hematology and oncology at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine.
Returning to Istanbul, she served for six years as the lead physician in the Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Yeni Yüzyıl Private Gaziosmanpaşa Hospital. Since 2019, she has been leading the Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Memorial Bahçelievler Hospital.
With 12 years of experience in bone marrow transplantation, Prof. Muge Gundogdu has actively performed nearly 1,000 transplants. In 2024, her unit achieved the highest number of transplants in Turkey, performing 101 procedures, and ranked second nationwide with an 88% survival rate, according to the Ministry of Health’s 2024 Report Card.
