Prof. Mutlu Arat biography:
Prof. Mutlu Arat is a distinguished specialist in internal medicine and hematology, with a focus on bone marrow transplantation. He graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1991 and completed his residency in internal medicine at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine. Subsequently, he specialized in hematology at the same institution. He has over 28 years of experience in the medical field.
Since 2000, Prof. Mutlu Arat has been an active clinical researcher specializing in adult malignant hematology and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. He has authored 385 publications, accumulated 5,334 citations, and holds a current h-index of 34. During his tenure at Ankara University as a transplant medical coordinator, 1,800 transplantations were performed until 2010.
After relocating to Istanbul, under his leadership, more than 2,000 stem cell apheresis procedures and 1,500 stem cell transplantations were conducted. His HCT team has been a full member of the EBMT since 2011, with over 1,500 registered patients. Since 2022, the team has been selected for EBMT benchmarking and participates in regular reporting and survey processes. Since 2011, they have performed allogeneic HCT on more than 800 patients, with half of them receiving transplants from alternative donors. Additionally, with over 400 myeloma patients treated through transplantation, the team actively participates in myeloma clinical trials.
Prof. Arat has also been serving as a JACIE inspector since 2004.
