Orthopedic Surgery for an Algerian Patient

Hossam, an 18-year-old patient from Algeria, was born with a congenital deformity that included a shortened femur, knee stiffness, and internal rotation of the leg. This condition led to an abnormal development of the femur, and over the years, it caused significant difficulties for him. Seeking treatment, Hossam and his family decided to look for a medical destination capable of correcting this deformity, and Turkey emerged as the optimal choice.

The family reached out to us, providing all the relevant medical documents, and we arranged a consultation. During this consultation, we explained all the necessary steps to receive treatment in Turkey. We then presented Hossam’s case to one of the best orthopedic surgeons in Turkey, Professor Sami Sokoujo, to evaluate the treatment approach.

Once we received detailed feedback from the professor and the hospital, preparations for the treatment journey began. After agreeing with Hossam’s family, who were fully committed to supporting their son through the process, the family traveled to Turkey.

Upon arrival at Istanbul International Airport, our team was there to welcome them and take them to their accommodation to rest and recover from the long journey before starting treatment. The following day, Hossam was transferred by private car to the hospital where his treatment would take place. Upon arrival, Professor Sami was waiting to personally examine him. The professor conducted a thorough examination and arranged for all necessary tests before proceeding with the surgical intervention.

Just a few days after their arrival, the first phase of the surgical procedure was performed. The primary goal was to correct the knee flexion and the internal rotation of the leg. The femur was cut, and the upper leg curvature was corrected to restore a more natural alignment. The knee, which was previously bent at a 45-degree angle, was straightened by 20 degrees, achieving significant improvement.

Hossam’s condition is now improving, and he is awaiting the second surgery, which will focus on leg lengthening, helping him achieve his long-awaited goal of restoring his leg to a normal length.
